Castro County Same-Day Release Route
The official Castro County Sheriff page gives jail contact information and a legacy VINELink referral. It has no current roster, release tab, date filter, or 24-hour archive. That absence matters. There is no official web list to refresh, sort, or copy, and no county statement about how fast an online result would change.
For one person, call the Castro County Jail and ask whether that booking is still active. Ask for the time custody ended and whether the exit was a release or a transfer. Staff may limit an oral answer to current status. When proof is needed, request the jail-register entry, booking sheet, release or transfer sheet, and release authority in writing.

A same-day inquiry works best when the identity and time window are fixed before contact. The Sheriff can search an actual booking more reliably than a vague request for everyone who “got out today.” For a complete daily set, use a written request for existing jail-register fields instead of asking staff to create a report or explain each case.

A booking photograph or bond field may exist in a related sheet, but neither is promised in an online list. The sheriff may redact or withhold fields under applicable Texas law.
Request Castro Same-Day Records
Texas Government Code chapter 552 covers requests for existing public information. Address a focused request to the Castro County Sheriff's Office, 900 E. Bedford Street, Dimmitt, TX 79027. No public records email, online form, fee list, or records-desk hours are posted. Call 806-647-3311 first to confirm the current submission method.
Identify the exact interval and ask for “existing jail-register entries for persons released or transferred” during it. Request release and transfer as separate outcomes. Include release or transfer date and time, disposition or destination, booking number, and release authority if maintained. The agency need not answer questions or create a new report. Electronic copies and a cost estimate can keep the request narrow.
The Public Information Act calls for prompt production, not a universal fixed response period. If an exception applies, ask for the releasable parts and the authority supporting the withheld material.
Castro Release and Custody Checks

TDCJ's inmate search covers only people then incarcerated in TDCJ and runs at least a day behind. It does not preserve former inmates as a public released-person search. BOP and ICE also use separate federal tools. A Castro jail exit should never be forced into the wrong system.
Note: Court disposition can explain the case result, but it may not state the exact hour physical custody ended.
Getting Home After Castro Release
Castro County is served by a rural demand-response transit network rather than the fixed late-night service common near large urban jails. TxDOT's Texas transit agency information places the county in Panhandle Community Services and Panhandle Transit territory. Demand-response means a rider generally arranges a trip based on provider availability.
The transit source does not promise pickup at Castro County Jail, an immediate vehicle, or service timed to a release. A family member or released person should contact the provider ahead of time and ask jail staff where pickup is allowed. Do not schedule a ride from an estimated release alone. Confirm the actual exit and any receiving agency first.
No Castro Release Archive
Castro County publishes neither a live roster archive nor a recent-release filter. A “vanished name” method cannot be used here because there is no official county roster from which to observe a departure. Even where another agency has a current search, no result can mean bad input, a data lag, transfer, legal restriction, or a record outside that system's scope.
The durable local route is the bounded jail-register request. Texas State Library Schedule PS describes the jail register as a summary record that includes the date of release or transfer. That distinction is central to a valid 24-hour list. A transfer to TDCJ, another county, ICE, or federal custody ends the Castro booking but not confinement.
Verify Castro Release Authority
The jail exit and case result are separate facts. In Castro County, misdemeanor matters generally route through the County Clerk, while felony matters route through the District Clerk. The offices share the same official contact point at 100 E. Bedford Street, Room 101, Dimmitt, but their legal records remain distinct. Ask for the docket sheet and any bond order, dismissal, judgment, sentence, or release order tied to the booking.
A bond order can show why the jail had authority to release a person while the case remained open. A judgment and jail-time credit can explain time served. A dismissal may end a charge, yet it does not erase the booking record without a separate legal process. Court records can also show a prison sentence that led to transfer rather than freedom. The final jail-register line is still needed for the physical exit time.
The 64th District Court publishes calendar and docket navigation. A setting answers what is scheduled, not whether the person left jail today. Signed orders and agency records carry more weight than a calendar entry. Match the case number, booking number, and birth date where available so two people with similar names are not merged.
For a correction, contact the office that created the wrong field. The Sheriff controls jail booking and release data. The clerk controls the court docket. TDCJ controls its prison record, and DPS controls its registry data. There is no single Castro County portal that changes all copies at once.
No Castro Sheriff Release App
The official county sweep found no Castro County Sheriff mobile-app link, release-post feed, or booking-photo gallery. A commercial directory or jail app should not be treated as a county publication merely because it uses local names. Before trusting a new service, confirm that the Sheriff links to it and that it identifies Castro County as a participating agency.
